Apply for a Community Resource K9

CRK9 — a Program within Crisis Response Canines (CRC)

The Community Resource K9 (CRK9) Program partners with professional agencies and organizations to place purpose-trained dogs in community-facing, wellness, and support roles. These dogs support staff, clients, and the public through structured, ethical, and sustainable programs.

Who Should Apply

CRK9 placements are intended for established agencies or organizations, including but not limited to:

  • Law enforcement and public safety agencies
     
  • Fire, EMS, and emergency management
     
  • Hospitals, healthcare systems, and behavioral health programs
     
  • School districts and higher education institutions
     
  • Government agencies and qualified nonprofits
     

Applicants must demonstrate organizational readiness, leadership support, and the ability to sustain a working K9 program.

Application Process

Step 1: Complete the Application


The application collects:

  • Agency and program information
     
  • Intended use and deployment environment
     
  • Handler/program lead details
     
  • Organizational commitment and readiness
     

Step 2: Prepare Required Attachments

Along with the completed application, agencies must submit the following:

  • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
    Detailing care, deployment, safety, public interaction, emergency protocols, and program oversight.
     
  • Budget & Sustainability Plan
    Including veterinary care, food, equipment, training, and long-term funding.
     
  • Supporting Documentation (if available)
    Examples: proof of insurance, letters of support, policies, or program photos.
     

Step 3: Submit Your Application

Email the completed application and attachments to the CRK9 intake team as instructed on the application form.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected agencies may be invited to:

  • Participate in a follow-up interview
     
  • Submit additional documentation
     
  • Complete a site or program review
     

Important Notes

  • Submission of an application does not guarantee placement.
     
  • CRK9 placements are based on organizational readiness, mission alignment, handler suitability, and canine availability.
     
  • Agencies pursuing CRC certification will be guided through additional training and compliance requirements after placement.
